GENESEO, Ill. – A Geneseo man was granted pretrial release after being arrested for allegedly soliciting nude photos and sexual acts from a child.
Alexander Snell, 27, of Geneseo, is charged with Indecent Solicitation of Child, a Class 3 Felony, and Sexual Exploitation of Child, a Class A Misdemeanor.
Allegations.
Between July and Dec. 2025, prosecutors say Snell solicited a child, he believes to be 16-years-old, to perform oral sex on himself, court documents show.
Furthermore, prosecutors say Snell requested nude photos and videos of the child for the purpose of sexual gratification, court documents show.
On Jan. 12, Associate Judge James Cosby found sufficient probable cause to proceed with the case, but also granted pretrial release and Snell was subsequently released from jail with conditions, court documents show.
Judge Cosby ordered Snell to have no contact with the alleged victim, unrelated minors, schools, parks nor gyms, including the YMCA and Geneseo Community Center, court documents show.
Snell was also ordered to be placed on GPS monitoring while on pretrial release, court documents show.
According to court documents, Snell is charged with a detention-eligible offense, but Judge Cosby denied prosecutors’ petition to keep him in jail until trial.
What comes next?
On Jan. 20, at a preliminary hearing, Circuit Judge Colby Hathaway maintained pretrial release, but granted modifications allowing Snell to have contact with his girlfriend’s children, court records show.
A pretrial conference is scheduled for Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. with jury selection slated to begin the week of March 23.
