Authorities seek help from public after fatal weekend shooting in Tiffin

JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa – Authorities are asking the public for help in connection to an ongoing death investigation in Tiffin.

On Jan. 10, shortly before noon, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to a report of a shooting at the Iris Court Apartments on Iris Court in Tiffin.

Upon arrival, deputies found one person outside of the building with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance and later died.

Authorities have identified the man who died as Lee Earl Krogh, 57, of Iowa City.



On Jan. 12, the Sheriff’s Office posted on social media asking the public if they saw, or captured video of, ‘erratic driving behavior’ between two vehicles on Highway 6 between the Coralville Lowe’s and Tiffin on Saturday, Jan. 10, between 11:30 a.m. and noon.

Additionally, anyone who witnessed the incident unfold on Iris Court between 11:30 a.m. and noon, or may have home or business security camera footage of the area, are urged to contact Detective Schuerer at the Sheriff’s Office.

No further details were provided.

At the time of writing this, no arrests have been made, nor have any suspects been named, in connection to the shooting.
