DAVENPORT, Iowa – A Davenport man is charged with murder after police responded to a domestic disturbance involving a family member on the night of Sep. 27.
Donald Brentise Jr., 41, of Davenport, was arrested at the scene and charged with First Degree Murder. He is accused of killing a 49-year-old woman during a domestic incident in the 3800 block of W. Locust Street in Davenport shortly after 8 p.m.
Upon arrival, police say they found the woman outside the home suffering from life-threatening injuries. Emergency aid was given on the scene and she was taken to the hospital where she later died.
SEP. 29 UPDATE: Police identified the woman killed as Tammy Brentise, 49, of Davenport, who is a family member of Brentise Jr.
Police say an initial investigation into the homicide revealed a separate ‘physical domestic disturbance’ involving co-owner of the home Kristin Brentise, 58, and her spouse, 68, who was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, the disturbance between Kristin and her spouse occurred a couple hours before the alleged homicide.
Kristin was charged with Domestic Assault with Injury and spent nearly eight hours in Scott County Jail before being released.
In 2019, Brentise Jr. was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault in Scott County but the case was later dismissed in court.
Brentise Jr. is being held without bond in Scott County Jail. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. in Scott County.
