What started as a typical July Saturday night in Mount Carroll, Illinois, ended in tragedy.
A family, and community, rocked by the mysterious death of a young man, desperately waited nearly six months for answers.
On Jan. 16, 2025, a Coroner’s jury ruled Jackson Kradle’s 2024 death was a Homicide after they were presented with two days worth of bombshell evidence and witness testimony in court.
A Coroner’s Inquest is a formal court proceeding, but not civil or criminal, where evidence and sworn testimony are presented to a jury to help determine the cause or manner of a person’s death.
In November 2024, Carroll County Coroner Matthew Jones announced he would hold an inquest for Kradle to determine the manner of death after an autopsy showed he was fatally struck by a vehicle.
After crossing the one-year mark since the inquest sent shockwaves through the community, what came next, and where does the case stand today?
