CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – A Cedar Rapids man accused of shooting another man multiple times was released from jail after posting bond earlier this month.
Thomas Vesey III, 49, of Cedar Rapids, is charged with Attempted Murder, a Class B Felony, Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, a Class C Felony, and Control of Firearm by Felon, a Class D Felony.
In 2017, Vesey pled Guilty to a Class D Felony charge for possessing marijuana with the intent to deliver, court records show.

Allegations.
Victim and witness identified by initials, LC and DM.
The accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
According to police, on Dec. 28, shortly after 4 a.m., LC was shot three times, in the face, back and left arm, following a party in the 300 block of 30th Street Dr SE in Cedar Rapids, arrest affidavits show.
The victim LC, and a person named DM, both identified Vesey as the suspect who shot at both of them, affidavits show.
It happened just outside the home LC and DM were leaving, but other guests at the party did not report seeing the shooting, affidavits show.
According to police, a vehicle matching Vesey’s white Ford F150 truck can be seen leaving the scene on surveillance footage less than a block away, within minutes of the shooting, affidavits show.
Police say Vesey’s license plate was picked up on a city camera about three miles from the shooting, in the area of Blairs Ferry Rd and I-380, five minutes after the 911 call, affidavits show.

On Dec. 30, Vesey and his truck were located during a search of his home, but he did not agree to an interview with police.
According to police, at the time the affidavit was produced, LC was in the intensive care unit in Iowa City but was communicating through the use of a dry erase board. His current condition is unknown.
On Jan. 1, Vesey appeared in court where a judge found sufficient probable cause to move forward, court records show.
