PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT: Major winter storm to impact region Friday night thru Saturday

DAVENPORT, Iowa – A major winter storm is set to impact eastern Iowa and northern Illinois Friday night thru Saturday.

The forecast remains on track for widespread heavy snowfall across all of eastern Iowa and northern Illinois Friday night into Saturday and Saturday night.

Total snow accumulation of up to 12 inches or more is expected. Wind gusts up to 30+ mph are possible leading to whiteout conditions at times.

Snow begins spreading across the Quad Cities Area from west to east around 9pm Friday before becoming widespread and heavy by around Midnight.

Expect widespread moderate to heavy snow through around 6pm Saturday before snow tapers off from west to east overnight into early Sunday morning.

Nearly the entire area should receive up to 10 to 14 inches with isolated higher amounts up to 18 to 24 inches not ruled out.
