DAVENPORT, Iowa – A Davenport woman was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly turning routine traffic stop into a high-speed pursuit within city limits.
Monica Rose, 46, is facing multiple charges including Eluding at Speed 25 MPH Over Limit, Second Offense, a Class C Felony.
Shortly after 1 a.m., an Iowa State Patrol trooper positioned on Interstate-80 near the Davenport Airport alleges a red 2010 Nissan Altima was moving eastbound at 75 mph in a 65 mph zone, affidavits show.
After initiating a traffic stop with emergency lights and sirens, the trooper alleges the Altima did not stop and turned southbound onto Brady Street at speeds up to 100 mph in 45 mph zone, affidavits show.
The pursuit continued eastbound on W 35th Street before speeding through the parking lot for Brady Street Stadium and continuing northbound, affidavits show.
While trying to turn eastbound on E 38th Street, officers say the Altima became ‘high centered and disabled’ allowing them to pin the vehicle and arrest the driver identified as Rose, affidavits show.
Officers allege Rose was restless, had cotton mouth and slow speech, and would be falling asleep at times, affidavits show.
While conducting a probable cause search, officers found suspected crack cocaine and liquid meth. A metal spoon with suspected cocaine residue on it and a digital scale were also found, affidavits show.
Rose allegedly blew all zeros in a Preliminary Breath Test but refused to provide a urine sample. She consented to a Drug Influence Evaluation where the trooper determined she was impaired by a CNS stimulant and Cannabis, affidavits show.
In 2022, Rose was sentenced to five years in prison for a felony Eluding charge in Scott County involving high speed pursuit and illegal drugs from 2021 but was released under supervision, court records show.
Rose is in custody at the Scott County Jail on a $14,000 bond, jail records show.
A preliminary hearing for the new charges is set for Nov. 7 and 10 a.m.
