Lontrez Nabors, 41, faces several charges including Assault on a Police Officer, a Class C Felony, Second-Degree Criminal Mischief, a Class D Felony, and Child Endangerment, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
According to police, shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, officers knew Nabors had ‘several’ active warrants for his arrest when they saw him driving in the area of W 2nd Street and Sturdevant Street in Davenport.
Police say Nabors ‘immediately’ tried to flee when they activated their lights and sirens. Officers intentionally made contact with his vehicle to try to stop him but Nabors continued to flee, affidavits show.
Police say Nabors intentionally ‘drove head on’ with other squad cars as he tried to flee, placing the officers in fear of being struck by his vehicle, affidavits show.
Officers continued trying to stop Nabors but police say he ‘drove head on’ with another squad car intentionally striking it, placing another officer ‘in fear of being seriously injured,’ affidavits show.
Police say Nabors was eventually blocked in by officers but he continued to strike squad cars with his vehicle, affidavits show.
Once the vehicle was disabled, Nabors was taken into custody. The collisions caused more than $5,000 worth of damage to three squad cars, affidavits show.
Meanwhile, officers found a three-old child unsecured in the middle row of seats inside the vehicle. Officers also found two clear plastic bags on the floorboard, and a digital scale with cocaine residue on it. The bags contained 5.8 grams of cocaine and 5.1 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, of which police say were unsecured and accessible to the child, affidavits show.
According to police, the amount of cocaine and mushrooms, combined with residue on the faceplate of the digital scale and having $174 cash, all indicate Nabors was selling both the cocaine and mushrooms.
Court records confirm Nabors had an outstanding arrest warrant for the charge of Eluding on July 15 in Bettendorf.
On the afternoon of July 15, police say Nabors fled from a traffic stop and nearly hit a pedestrian before driving off-road and on the gravel shoulder to get around stopped traffic and escape, affidavits show.
Nabors also had an outstanding warrant from August for not reporting to jail for Nonpayment of Child Support. He is now serving 30 days in jail, court records show.
For the new charges, Nabors is being held on a $200,000 cash only bond.
A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. in Scott County.
